Mike Neiduski grew up on a family farm in northeastern Connecticut where he fell in love with deer hunting, fishing and exploring the outdoors. He grew up and moved away, first to Wisconsin, then to South Carolina, then to Missouri, back to Wisconsin, and now North Carolina. Through the course of it, he found that without access to wild places, something didn't seem right. A sense of obligation to an 8-week-old German wirehair puppy lit a new flame of curiosity and exploration. Living in an apartment with a rambunctious fur ball forced him to find the spaces he missed from childhood, and he fell in love all over again, this time on public land.
Mike strongly believes in the power of bird dogs and wild food to support the R3 movement, and the need to include folks from all walks of life in outdoor pursuits. When it comes to conservation, you will often find him saying, "A rising tide lifts all ships." He still finds time for the tree stand between the duck blind and trips across the country chasing wild birds in wild places. Otherwise, you can find him training dogs, fly fishing, or writing about bird dogs.
Mike he is judge with the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association and is avidly involved in a local NAVHDA chapter. He is a founding board member of the North Carolina chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers and regularly volunteers for the Ruffed Grouse Society and American Woodcock Society. Mike also maintains memberships with Quail Forever, Pheasants Forever, Delta Waterfowl, Trout Unlimited, and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership.
Mike currently lives in the central Piedmont region with his very hobby tolerant wife, Becky, and their two bird dogs, Plexi and Sophie.
