Chelsea was born in Eastern Oregon where she was raised on public lands and wild places. She's grown up in the footsteps of longtime outdoorsmen (and women) who influenced and raised her to be involved in hunting, fishing, camping, and conservation efforts since a young age. Hunting has always been a staple for food and nourishment in her family; the memories and priceless adventures that come with the outdoors are a bonus to their way of life. Her conservation efforts have naturally aligned with this passion through the years, especially since becoming a mother and raising two young and very adventurous children.
The Cassens’ Family are Life Time Members of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, members of the Oregon Hunters Association, Mule Deer Foundation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and sustaining members of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and Keep It Public. They are 2% Certified for Conservation. They enjoy being active in their small community and advocating for the public land their livelihood depends on. Chelsea also serves as a volunteer on the board for the Oregon Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers as their secretary and treasurer. She is becoming more involved with Artemis, a new non-profit organization of women protecting sporting traditions, supporting women as leaders in the conservation movement, and fostering the next generation of conservationists.
The Cassens' enjoy all aspects Eastern Oregon has to offer. They can be found hunting big game and upland birds during the fall. In the winter you can find them chasing waterfowl and steelhead fishing. During the spring and summer months, they are out enjoying multiple public land activities, trying to outsmart the elusive Rio Grande turkey, mushroom and huckleberry picking, and spending time in the woods scouting and camping with friends and family.
