Wade has been a lifelong resident of Virginia, grew up fishing but didn’t take up hunting until his mid twenties. He is a self taught hunter and chef with a focus on local and seasonal food. Being as connected to his food as possible has been the driving force behind his ever growing obsession with hunting, fishing and foraging.
Every meal should be enjoyed and celebrated, meaningful, mindful, a constant reminder of who we are, where we came from, and where we go from here. I am thankful for every meal, every dish I’m lucky enough to prepare and share. I am thankful for the opportunity to do what feels so right to me, to be myself, to find purpose in food, for the wild places big and small, for the land of opportunity and the freedom to be who I am.
Wade and his partner Rachel have a blog where they share their wild food recipes and adventures. They are both Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and National Wild Turkey Federation members. If he is not in one kitchen or the other he is spending time on the water or in the woods, chasing anything that is in season. Sight fishing skinny water and swinging on birds over decoys are some of his favorite ways to procure food and spend time outdoors with friends.
